PC Maintenance
There are three tasks necessary to maintain your computers performance
· Disk Cleanup
· Disk Error Checking
· Disk Defragmenting
How to Perform Disk Cleanup
1. Double-click Computer , and then right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check.
2. Click Properties , and then click DISK CLEANUP
3. Select the files in which to delete (do not select 'compress old files).
4. Click OK. Reboot when finished.
How to Perform Disk Error Checking
1. Double-click My Computer , and then right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check.
2. Click Properties , and then click Tools .
3. Under Error-checking , click Check Now, then check Automatically fix errors
· DO NOT CHECK “SCAN AND ATTEMPT RECOVERY OF BAD SECTORS."
4. Click Start, choose YES, close, reboot.
How to Perform Disk Defragmenting
1. Double-click My Computer , and then right-click the hard disk drive that you want to check.
2. Click Properties , and then click Tools .
3. Under Error-checking section see Defragmentation , click Defragment Now, select drive to defragment.
4. Click Defragment. When complete Reboot PC.
